Creative Fall Back

I still love drawing on sticky notes. It's a fun, no pressure way to keep creative at work!

Feeling Sketchy

Pages 15-16
Pages 17-18

Pages 19-20
Ever had one of those days/weeks where there are a billion ideas bouncing around upstairs and you just have to get something out? Well, here's a random assortment of that. Sometimes it's shapes and swirls and other times it's an image that is haunting me. I keep multiple sketchbooks going at once and this particular Moleskine is one that I enjoy creating with mixed media. It's for the times when I need to inject some color into my life. My more 'serious' sketches are usually done in pen and/or pencil on a plain white sketchbook page... boring!  Just when I need it most, this journal conjures images I never knew existed.

2012 Sketchbook Project Complete

Finally finished the sketchbook and mailed it off yesterday, one day ahead of the deadline. YAY! Here are a couple of pictures of the cover and you can check out my previous post for the inside.

Beauty and the Mountain Man

Experimentation is in full swing in the studio. Well, these two little SNArts were technically done at work in the Art Department, but I do have other things in the works in the home studio. I really need to remember to take pictures more often and post the evolution here.

Repose

I've felt as if I were in a slump as of late, and decided to explore new techniques with my painting. No sketching; no planning; just some paint and a brush. This was the result of that freedom.

Sketchbook Project 2012

My sketchbook for the Art House Co-op is still a work in progress, but for the most part, the only thing left to be done is the cover. I glued all the pages together and cut out the center, creating a frame. I then used several different acrylic mediums and paint to give it a stone like quality and sealed it. The type/page within the frame is from an 1860's french book, "Curiosités Théologiques", that was begging to be illustrated. The nude was painted with watercolor on paper and then cut and glued inside the sketchbook. Once the cover is complete, I'll post pictures of that as well.
